The Draughting Academy's  Multi-Disciplinary Draughting National Certificate is the best, and most popular qualification for draughsman. It is the most recognized draughting qualification in industry as well as the pre-requisite for any further studies in draughting. It will introduce you not only to the fundamentals of draughting but also your draughting software tool and numerous draughting disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, structural, process plant and many more. It will prepare you for the MDDOP N4/N5 national examinations from the department of education.

Your qualification will consist of 9 multi disciplinary industry subjects. Refer to the subjects tab for more.

We utilizes industry leading CAD/CAM/CAE  software including Autodesk, Solidworks, ArchiCAD and SketchUp ensuring that you are educated not only in theory but also the industries No#1 CAD software. It will include a total of 11 official CAD software courses.

Practical workshops are scheduled throughout your qualification including building, electrical, mechanical, structural and more.

Students can also participate in a optional 4 week/20 day program where they will be hosted in a external workshop. During this time they will design various components and carry this design all the way through the manufacturing process. Extra cost will apply.

The national certificate is divided into two main parts, the CORE and the SPECIALIZATION.

 PART 1, Multi Disciplinary Draughting Core: 


During this part all students will learn draughting techniques in various different industries as well as a array of industry recognized and utilized software. The below diagram explains the industries and software. 

PART 2: Software Specialization


During this part each student will choose a specialized industry in which they would like to focus on. We cover more CAD applications specific to each industry as well as additional subjects like project management and BIM management.

Duration:

Admission Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with a drawing subject and Math Literacy

No drawing subject at school?  You can still apply but you must go through our Technical Bridging Course (LEARN MORE>) first, done 1 weeks prior to the start of the draughting qualification.

Qualifications:

This qualification has been designed to provide the student with multiple certificates and qualifications, both locally and internationally recognized by industry for maximum employability. On completion the student will earn the following:

  • The  Draughting Academy Multi Disciplinary Draughting National Qualification.
  • N4/N5 MDDOP National Certificate Accredited by the Department of Higher Education and Training (Optional, you have to write and pass the external DOE exams which can be written at our Sandton campus as this is an accredited exam centre).
  • Autodesk Certified Training Center Certificate for each Autodesk course completed
  • City & Guilds International CAD Operator Qualification, mapped to our Multi Disciplinary Draughting Qualification (Optional, you have to write and pass the City & Guilds assessments)
  • South African Institute of Draughting Student Membership

Full Time
Reach your full potential through our instructor led classes combined with interactive lessons, practical assignments and in field experience. Our full time offering consist of a full working day, 8 hours per day divided into multiple periods.

Correspondence
We have re-defined correspondence studies. Our Assisted Distance Learning ensures that the student never gets left alone to do only self-study by combining online Virtual Classrooms and at home exercises and assignments, all managed by our myAcademy Student Portal.

Assessment:

Continual Integrated Formative Assessment: As you finish your modules you will be assed continuously in the form of practical exercises and two times assessments per subject that counts towards your term mark.  

Exams: Each subject will require you to write and pass one internal exam and one external exam (should you choose to write external exams). Term Mark Calculation: Assignments = 40%, Exams = 60%

Optional Exams: City & Guilds optional assessments should you want to get the inernational City & Guilds CAD Operator qualification.
