The National Certificate: Architectural Technologist provides an introduction into the architectural profession and its role within the Building Industry.  The learner is provided with the Draughting skills, competencies and academic knowledge required to practice in the Built Environment as a "Candidate Architectural Draughtsperson" and after a period of supervised practical experience and / or other requirements as specified by the professional registration body, as an "Architectural Draught Person”.

Included in the full time fees are a total of 4 weeks practical, spread out over the 12 months. Practical is done offsite at our partner academy www.makersacademy.co.za and will cover Quantity Survey, Building, Plumbing, Wiring.

This qualification consists of 120 national credits. These credits must be satisfied with both academic and practical or simulated practical time.

  • Grade 12 (Competency in the english language & numeric proficiency assumed to be in place) OR
  • NQF4 Drawing Office Practice OR
  • N4/5 Multi Disciplinary Draughting National Certificate, MDDOP (READ MORE) OR

Important Notes:

Q: Can you register at SACAP?

  • A: The table below is taken from the SACAP “Purple book” and explains their policy on allowing individuals to register at specific levels based on their qualifications. With an NQF5 and/or an NQF6 qualification you can register as a "Candidate Draughtsperson", however, if you have an NQF6 qualification with sufficient credits (360) you will be allowed to register at the next level as "Candidate Architectural Technologist". Doing both the NQF5 & NQF6 will give you the required amount of credits to register as a "Candidate Architectural Technologist".
