The National Diploma: Architectural Technologist NQF6 provides the learner with the academic knowledge, skills and competencies required to practice in the Built Environment as a “Candidate Architectural Technologist”. After a period of supervised practical experience and / or other requirements as specified by the professional registration body, (SACAP) a candidate may be illegible to be registered as an “Candidate Architectural Technologist”.

Q: Can you register at SACAP?

  • A: The table below is taken from the SACAP “Purple book” and explains their policy on allowing individuals to register at specific levels based on their qualifications. With an NQF5 and/or an NQF6 qualification you can register as a "Candidate Draughtsperson", however, if you have an NQF6 qualification with sufficient credits (360) you will be allowed to register at the next level as "Candidate Architectural Technologist". Doing both the NQF5 & NQF6 will give you the required amount of credits to register as a "Candidate Architectural Technologist".
