Q: IF I TAKE THE STUDY KIT WITH THE LAPTOP, CAN I KEEP THE LAPTOP AFTER THE COURSE?
A: Yes, you will receive a brand new laptop which is yours to keep after the course.
Q: CAN I USE MY OWN LAPTOP FOR THIS COURSE?
A: Yes, but it is important to compare your laptops specs with ours. Your laptop must have the minimum specs otherwise it will not be compatible with the software.
Q: DO I STILL RECEIVE THE SOFTWARE IF I DON'T TAKE THE LAPTOP AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
A: Yes, we will provide you with the software on an USB which you can put on your own laptop.
Q: IS ANY ADDITIONAL STUDY MATERIAL (I.E. BOOKS) NEEDED FOR THE COURSE?
A: No, all the theory manuals for the Multi-Disciplinary Draughting Course has been converted to e-learning material which is included in your study kit to save the unnecessary costs of purchasing textbooks.
Q: HOW DOES THE ASSISTED DISTANCE LEARNING COURSE WORK?
A: Our Assisted Distance Learning course is online, which means that you do not have to attend class at our Sandton campus. This is a self-study course but you get an online session twice a week with the lecture where you can ask questions and he will be able to assist you.
Q: WHAT SUPPORT DO I HAVE WITH THE ASSISTED DISTANCE LEARNING COURSE?
A: You will have an online session twice a week with the lecture where you can ask questions and he will be able to assist you accordingly; you can also see the lectures screen while he is doing drawings. These sessions are recorded and available for review. We also have a student support team who you can either phone or log a question on your student portal for assistance.
Q: HOW MANY HOURS PER WEEK SHOULD YOU SPEND ON SELF-STUDY WITH THE ASSISTED DISTANCE LEARNING COURSE?
A: Plus/Minus 10 hours per week
Q: IF I ENROLL FOR THE ASSISTED DISTANCE LEARNING COURSE, WILL I STILL WRITE EXAMS AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
A: Yes, you would write online exams at the end of the course. During this course you would also have to submit assignments that you would be assessed on. It should be noted that if you want to obtain your National Certificate for N4 and N5 you would have to write exams through the Department of Education. This can be done at our Sandton campus as we are a registered exam centre, there will be a charge of R500-00 per subject excl. vat, you would have 8 (Eight) subjects. It should further be noted that should you be unable to write these national exams in Sandton we can provide you with a list of possible exam centres in other areas that might be able to assist you, it will be your responsibility to enroll at the selected exam centre for your national exam and pay them accordingly.
Q: WHAT CAN I DO AFTER THIS COURSE TO FURTHER MY STUDIES?
A: We do recommend a national diploma in Engineering (N4 – N6) which we also offer.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF I WANT TO DO MORE THAN ONE SPECIALIZATION DIRECTION?
A: After you completed the course, you can come back to do another specialization direction which is only part 2 of the course. There will be a cost involved should you do an additional direction.
Q: IS PART 1 AND PART 2 BOTH DONE WITHIN THE 8 MONTHS / 18 MONTHS?
A: Yes, this is all included in the course duration.
Q: ARE ALL THE DRAWINGS DONE ON A COMPUTER, OR ARE THERE HAND DRAWINGS TOO?
A: You would have 8 subjects which two of them will be drawings on a drawing board, one Theory subject and the rest of the subjects will be done on the software on your computer.
Q: CAN I STILL ENROLL IF I HAVE NO DRAWING EXPERIENCE?
A: Yes, you can. It will be required that you do our Technical Bridging Course first which will teach you the basics on technical drawings as well as math and physical science.
Q: CAN I USE THE GAUTRAIN FOR TRANSPORT?
A: Yes, our campus is 2.6km from the Gautrain Station in Sandton. When you are at the Sandton Station you take the Gautrain Bus, which will drop you off approximately 200m from the campus. Most of our students prefer this method of transport.
